Memorial Health System is making a huge investment in the Mid-Ohio Valley that should make everyone confident about the future.
Memorial broke ground Thursday for the expansion of its Belpre Medical Campus on Farson Street. It's the third phase of Memorial's expansion plan. Memorial is committing $25 million for a new 57,000-square-foot facility. It will have a freestanding, fully functional emergency room that will be open around the clock.
Twenty patient exam rooms, imaging services and a full medical laboratory will be included along with emergency transportation.
The addition will be staffed with 50 employees.
With demand rising for emergency services at Memorial's Marietta ER's, the Belpre campus adds to the potential help available to people, according to Marietta Memorial CEO Scott Cantley. The Belpre campus will mean critical care will be closer to home for many in western Washington County.
Understandably, Belpre Mayor Mike Lorentz is happy to see Memorial's investment.
We'd like to add our voice to the chorus praising Memorial's commitment to growth and future of health care in our community. The health system is taking an active role in providing top-notch medical services in Washington County, and is backing it up with major spending to accomplish its goals.
