Kelly E. Burchett, 65, of Waterford, died Sunday (May 12, 2013) at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
He was born Aug. 17, 1947, in Beverly, son of James H. and Doris Mae Alltop Burchett. He was retired from Skinner Firestone in Beverly after 44 years of service. He attended Fort Frye High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received the Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts. He was a member and past commander of American Legion Post 389 in Beverly.
He was married Nov. 1, 1968 to Rita Williams Burchett, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Jeremy Burchett of Marietta and Jason Burchett (Erma) of Waterford; five grandchildren, Emily, Sarah, Dalton, Chris and Darrin; one brother, Richard Burchett of Stockport; two sisters, Nancy Venoy (Cledis) of Zanesville and Wanda Riley (Doug) of Lowell; and his dog, Oliver.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Wilma Lockhart and two infant sisters, Beverly and Roberta.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly with Evangelist Zack Waite officiating. Burial will be in Waterford Cemetery with military services at the grave. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
