Thelma Kathleen Martin, 98, of Marietta, passed away Tuesday (March 11, 2014) at Heartland of Marietta.
She was born Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1915, in Newport Township, to the late Emil Ernest and Margaret Jane Thompson Schultheiss. Thelma graduated from Newport High School, was a member of Gilman Avenue United Methodist Church, Beech Grove United Methodist Church as well as the Quilters Clubs and Women's Groups. Thelma was an avid reader and quilter.
She is survived by her son, Bernard Martin of Newport; four grandchildren, Bradford Biehl (Stephanie) of Marietta., Tami Larson (Charles) of Milwaukee, Wis., Jill Matheny (Delbert) of Marietta, and Jay Martin (Connie) of Newport; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Bernice Lemon of Rock Hill, S.C.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Dean Martin; daughter, Linda Louise Biehl; brothers, Noble, William, Kenneth and Bernard Schultheiss; as well as a sisters, Lola and Sylvia.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday (March 14, 2014) at Hadley Funeral Home Reno Chapel, 1021 Pike St., Marietta, with the Rev. Diann O'Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in Newport Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to either Gilman Avenue or Beech Grove United Methodist Churches.
