I was asked once, "what is the most precious gift you could receive?" I was young so my answer was, "a good looking man to marry." I'm much older now, so if the same question was asked me now, my answer would be different. I believe now that there is one most precious gift and others that follow. In order would be, God and His son Jesus Christ, a loving and sharing marriage, family, a church family and good Christian friends.
Hello. My name is Myla Mitchem. I am the director of all ages of youth at Tunnel United Methodist Church.
Unfortunately I believe that at some point in time, Christians have lost the courage to stand up as Christians. For example, we allowed Christian religion to be taken out of our schools, a place where so many children could have learned of Christ's love for them. Also, where are all the families on Sunday mornings? In the Bible, the book of Genesis 2:2-3 teaches us that on the seventh day (which is Sunday) God had finished creating the world and all that was in it so He blessed the seventh day and God rested and made this day holy.
It sure seems to me that we have taken this Bible verse out of context and turned resting into sleeping in, then getting a week's worth of work done. I understand that when you work during the week and have children that it's hard to get everything done. I suggest to reorganize what needs to be done and don't leave it for a Sunday. Also I know that many have jobs that require them to go to work on Sundays.
Why are we allowing coaches to have practices and games on Sundays?
Christians stand up for what is right. Let's bring Sundays back to what God created it for. Trust me when you start Sunday morning in church and follow with Sunday school, then spending the rest of the day with family and friends having fun and ending the day with church or your children in a youth group. God will bless you so much that your week will go so much better and you will start your next busy week feeling so much more rested.
Start now. Don't put it off any longer. Put God first. Find a good Christian church that has a youth group and Sunday school.
God created us not to stand back and complain about things, but to do something about them. God also created each one of us to make a good difference in the world.
If you are looking for a church and a church that puts a lot of interest in the youth, Tunnel United Methodist would be perfect for you.
