Marietta High School's "Save Our Football" fundraising drive has reached 50 percent of its $30,000 goal. High School football coach Steve Sayre has said that $30,000 was needed to fund the football program and $15,165.43 has been raised so far.
50 years (1964)
Plans for the cornerstone laying ceremonies of the new Selby General Hospital on Colegate Dr. were made Tuesday on the grounds of the new hospital.
75 years (1939)
The small restaurant on Main Street in New Matamoras is being remodeled. The dining room is to be much larger and more modern, making it possible to serve a large number of guests at a time.
100 years (1914)
Shower baths in the streets made available by the city this week at a half dozen points, are being enjoyed by hundreds of children during the hot period.
The Reno bridge on the Newport pike will be closed for two days of construction. It is expected that it will then be opened again.
