The Sequester is nothing more than small decrease in the rate of increase in federal spending OVER 10 YEARS. President Obama should be the one to choose where the $85 billion in cuts should come from THIS YEAR since THE SEQUESTER was HIS IDEA TO BEGIN WIT

The President needs to lead on this issue he created instead of campaigning against it.

Airline and airport officials say they didn't receive specific information from the FAA about how the furloughs might affect air travel until a meeting called by the agency on April 16, six days before the furloughs took effect. Airport officials said they weren't invited and had to push the FAA to allow them to come to the meeting. Wouldn’t you think the FAA would get together with their customers (airlines and airports) and try to work it out? Not if you were trying to make a point.

moderation: I absolutely, 100%, agree with the Sequester. I do not agree with the an administration who goes out of the way to inflict the most harm to its citizens simply because it did not get its way. 5% of an agency’s budget cause mass havoc? Not moving personnel from slow airports to busy ones? Can’t move budgeted money from the right hand to the left had without an act of Congress? This just shows how screwed up most gov’t agencies are and how my tax dollars are mismanaged. Cutting White House tours but still having cash for White House Parties? WTF.

Come on, beright. what you have to say to be honest is that the the "righties" did not read a bill before they voted on it. and, the house has yet to act on this measure, don't they? They were stampeding over each other to vote for this 'cutting' legislation.

The Senate unanimously agreed Thursday to allow the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to shift $253 million from other accounts so it can end furloughs and keep towers open at smaller airports nationwide. The House is expected to rubber-stamp the legislation Friday. Lawmakers said the furloughs could end immediately under the bill, but the FAA said it wasn't clear how quickly the controller schedules could be changed.

It took an act of Congress to tell the FAA to use its head. Just more evidence that this administration was out inflict maximum pain.

All this because the FAA’s budget was cut FIVE PERCENT.

What a bunch of BO Huey!

The FAA was asked to move controllers from smaller airports to the larger overworked airports and they refused.

beright - there have been attempts to introduce legislation to modify sequester influences, but have been shut down by house leadership.

No, this was Obama's idea and the Republicans gave him his wish.

When the FAA said it could not move around money from other areas, the airline industry pushed for legislation that explicitly enabled it. But the Airline industry was were told that “the administration would not support any legislation unless it solves the whole sequestration program.” In other words, the administration is interested only in applying pressure to solve its own self-created spending problem. They want to inflict as much pain on the public as possible.

And, yeah, we have no money but let’s save Big Bird and close airport control towers. Democratic priorities on display.

The Sequester was BO's idea. Be careful what you ask for. LOL

It was BO's idea. His idea to make it work was to raise taxes. Again. Why did he not compromise?

USA TODAY reports: Over the past three years, the Government Accountability Office found 162 areas where agencies are duplicating efforts, at a cost of tens of billions of dollars. How many billions? No one knows. "The big problem the GAO had, if you read the report, is they can't adequately estimate their savings because agencies can't tell them how much they're spending,"

What are the Democrat priorities: lets close towers and save Big Bird.

The president took a pay cut to support Gov't employees? There are no cuts. There are just decreases in the scheduled increases. What a bunch of hooey.

BO was given a chance to choose the cuts. He choose tax increases. He allowed this to go to the Sequester.

Observe the "Latest Post" on the right side of the National poltics screen. "By Munster", "By Munster", "By Munster"...ad nauseum. This guy MUST know EVERYTHING there is to know about EVERYTHING.

Lantham started to go that way also, until I suggested that something he posted might result in a visit by the ATF&E. He THEN backed off!

Marietta Times; Take your Munster and stick him. I'm DONE HERE!
