Marietta’s Courtney Schuck 2nd-team All-Ohio in girls’ soccer

When Courtney Schuck was a Marietta High sophomore, she was teamed up with two-time All-Ohio honoree Lexie Mullen on the pitch.

The dynamic duo gave opposing defenses fits all season long.

After the high-scoring Mullen graduated and went to West Liberty University, Schuck was expected to step up this season — and did she ever.

Recently, Schuck was honored as an All-Ohio Division I second team selection in girls’ soccer by the OSSAC (Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association).

Before that, she was the Southeast District D1 Player of the Year and a first-team all-district pick.

This past fall, Schuck helped Marietta compile a 16-2-0 overall record which included both an East Central Ohio League (ECOL) and a D1 sectional championship.

The Tigers eventually bowed out of tournament play, 4-0, at Boardman in a district semifinal.

Offensively, Schuck was Marietta’s go-to player with a team-high 20 goals and 12 assists.

“It definitely helps to have a player like Courtney,” said 15th-year MHS head coach Jeff Price after Schuck scored two goals to beat the Parkersburg Big Reds at Jerry Brock Field on Sept. 5.

All season long, Schuck always gave her Tiger teammates credit.

“I had lots of good looks,” said Schuck after the PHS match. “My teammates hit me perfectly right on those balls.”
