Raiders win sectional in triple-overtime

BELMONT — It took three overtimes, but Morgan High defeated Union Local 49-46 in triple-overtime to win a Division III sectional championship Friday night.

After a scoreless overtime session, Morgan trailed 45-40 with 50 seconds left in double-OT. Down 46-43 with 16 seconds to go, Myers drained a 25-foot trifecta to force triple-overtime.

Morgan knocked down three foul shots in the third extra session while holding the Jets scoreless to claim the victory.

Altier scored a game-high 21 points while Myers added 19 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Jason Wells chipped in seven points, seven boards and five steals.

Union Local got 14 points from Luke Merritt, 12 from Zach Bateman and nine apiece from Andrew Martin and Nathan Meyer.

The Raiders will take on Fort Frye in a district semifinal at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Morgan defeated the Cadets 58-54 earlier this season in McConnelsville.
