Several Marietta boys earn ECOL soccer accolades
Marietta High School boys soccer was well represented in the 2020 All-East Central Ohio League awards after winning the conference title for the third straight season, capturing Marietta’s 20th league title in program history.
Marietta finished the year 10-4-3, winning the ECOL with a 5-1-2 record. They were upset by No. 10 seed Warren in the Sectional Finals.
David Sarver, a junior captain, was named the ECOL Player of the Year. He was Marietta’s leading goal scorer with 10 goals and also had five assists. He’s the 10th Tiger ever to earn conference player of the year honors.
Named to the first team was senior captain Adam Coil and junior Kamden Lankford. It was Coil’s third time as an all-conference honoree. He had one goal and one assist this season. Lankford, a midfielder, had one goal and four assists this season.
Freshman Mac Threatt and sophomore Brody McGregor were named second team All-ECOL. Threatt and McGregor both notched nine goals and four assists this season.
Junior Cayden Wheeler was an honorable mention pick. He scored four goals and assisted on six others.
Finally, veteran head coach Todd Morris was named the ECOL Coach of the Year.
It’s the seventh time he’s been a conference coach of the year in his career and the third straight.
