Trio of Cadets named to All-Ohio first team

PARKERSBURG — Fort Frye football’s run to an Ohio Division IV state semifinal hasn’t gone unnoticed in the arena of postseason awards.

Several Cadets have already been named to various teams as selected by the Ohio sports writers. Things got even better Monday afternoon.

Four of head coach Eric Huck’s players were honored with an appearance on the writers’ All-Ohio Division VI football list. Dylan Hart, Casey Brooker and Brady Kutscherenko were named to the first team. Brian Adkins was recognized on the second team.

Huck was pleased to see them gain further recognition.

“They all were a big part of our success this year. Those guys who were seniors were definitely leaders and definitely meant a lot to our program and what we have been able to accomplish,” he said.

Linebacker Hart became the first Cadet in school history to be named to two All-Ohio top teams. He put together a monster senior season as the leader of the defense with 98 tackles, 11 tackles for a loss, four sacks, two passes defensed, a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries.

“He has been an outstanding player for us and is very deserving of two-time All-Ohio status. He has led the team in tackles since his sophomore year and is one of those leaders by example and I am proud of him for what he has been able to accomplish,” Huck said.

Offensive lineman Booker helped the Cadets’ offense rack up 35 points per game along with 2,838 yards rushing. He also combined with the other four offensive linemen to help quarterback Ian Ellis complete 64% of his passes.

“The line has to be our strength every year and Casey was outstanding for us. Great at the left tackle and to be honest all of our offensive linemen were really good this year. Not much of a difference between our best and worst. Casey stands out because of his size and athletic ability. It is a rare combination for him to be as big as he is and move as well as he does,” Huck said of his junior.

Now, Brooker turns his attention to becoming the second Fort Frye player to become a two-time All-Ohio first teamer. Huck feels like there is a possibility that can happen. “If things go well for him, sure. I know he just wants to get better.

It is possible and only time will tell,” he said.

Defensive lineman Kutscherenko was one of the breakout stars for the Cadets this season. His ten tackles for a loss were one behind Hart. And his 69 tackles, six sacks, four quarterback hurries and a forced fumble made him a force to be reckoned with for opposing lineman.

Huck had nothing but good things to say about him.

“He was outstanding and really had a breakout year for us. We do a point system on defense for all the different things someone can do like tackles for a loss, sacks, interceptions and those things and Dylan was number one but Brady was just behind him. He was making plays all over the field and was quite a spark for us,” he said.

Adkins who returned from an ACL injury was a solid defensive back for the Cadets. He posted 36 tackles, TFL, 8 passes defensed, and an interception.

Braden Medley was named to the third-team defensive line.

Ellis, running backs Maeson Long and Owen Brown, wide receiver Jay Baker were honorable mentions.

In Region VII, several Waterford and Frontier players were honored.

Wildcat linebacker Joe Pantelidis was recognized as a second-team selection after recording 91 tackles, six TFL, two interceptions and one sack.

Offensive lineman Hayden Offenberger and Cougars’ defensive lineman Gaige Bowersock were named to the third team.

Wildcats’ Holden Dailey and the Cougars’ Sale Amos received honorable mentions.
