Two Warren football players named second team All-Ohio
VINCENT — A pair of Warren Warriors earned Division IV All-Ohio second team honors Tuesday.
Seniors Evan Gandee and Joel Chevalier both were recognized at the state level after helping lead Warren to a 7-2 record and the program’s first two playoff wins.
Gandee shattered every receiving record during his career with the Warriors. He finished his senior season with 65 receptions, 1,019 yards and 11 touchdowns in just nine games. He was also an electric returner and a solid defender.
Chevalier was an excellent kicker for the Warriors, going 37 for 39 on extra-point attempts and nailing 4 of 6 field goal tries with a long of 40 yards. He was also a gifted punter, averging 39.3 yards per boot and pinning eight inside the 20-yard line.
Fellow Warriors Josh Welch (senior linebacker), Kurt Taylor (senior quarterback) and Peyten Kellar (senior defensive back) were named honorable mention All-Ohio.
In Division III, Marietta seniors Reece Gerber (quarterback) and Tony Munos (wide receiver) claimed honorable mention All-Ohio status.
In Division V, three Morgan Raiders appeared on the honorable mention All-Ohio list. Landen Pettet (senior running back), Jarrell Newman (junior defensive lineman) and Carson Copeland (sophomore punter) all were recognized.
