WATERFORD — The Waterford wrestling team celebrated “Senior Night” before a tri-match Wednesday, and what a night it was for the Wildcats’ two seniors.

Haden Offenberger and Ethan Root, the program’s first class to wrestle from seventh to 12th grade under head coach Greg Offenberger, won both their matches Wednesday.

Their performances lifted to the Wildcats to team wins over South Gallia (42-12) and Eastern (42-18).

Also picking up a pair of victories for the green and white were Lane Cline, Coen Wagner, Judson Cooper and Ethan Beardmore. Randy Kindle went 1-1 on the evening.

“Things have been tough this year with COVID, but we will finally be back at full strength next week,” said coach Offenberger. “Our guys are working hard and we are getting better every week. This is not the season we all wanted, but we are cherishing every moment we have with this team.”

Waterford will be back on the mat Jan. 30 at the Jimmy Wood Invitational, “but we are looking for some competition before that,” the coach said.
