Local college runners part of national scene
PARKERSBURG – A pair of local female cross country runners who made a name for themselves at the high school level are continuing their season at nationals for their respective schools.
Williamstown grad Ella Hesson is a senior at Davis & Elkins who turned in the fourth fastest time for the Senators’ women’s team which captured the championship Friday at the NCAA Atlantic Regional Cross Country Championships in Lock Haven, Pa.
Hesson placed 26th overall in a time of 22:06.7.
Davis & Elkins competes at the NCAA Division II Nationals on Nov. 23 in Sacramento, Calif.
At the Division I level, former Parkersburg High School standout Madison Trippett will join her Mountaineer teammates for the NCAA Division I Championships at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wis., on Nov. 23.
Tripett, who competed for Richmond University for four years, is a graduate student at WVU.
The WVU women captured the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship last Friday at the Blue and White Courses in University Park, Pa.
