VINCENT — Undefeated Meigs had the lead at halftime here Friday night inside the Warrior Coliseum during the 11th annual Hall of Honor tilt, but the one-two punch of Julian Stadelman and Chase “lefty one” Lupardus were too much for the Marauders as the hosts improved to 12-2 following a 70-54 victory.
After trailing 22-21 at intermission, the Warriors of head man Blane Maddox scored 23 points during a third quarter where Lupardus, who had a game-high 14 rebounds, pumped in a baker’s dozen counters as Colin Anthony’s deuce with 2.5 ticks remaining put the visitors in a 44-36 hole.
Stadelman led all point-producers with 24 and joined Hayden “lefty two” Wells, who had eight points, with six rebounds.
Meigs scored the first six points thanks to Reed Brinager putting up four of his 10 counters along with Owen Tracy, who had 15 points, but the Warriors got a pair of 3s from Connor Barry and two buckets from Lupardus to take a 10-6 edge.
Warren, which finished at 51.9% (27 of 52) from the field, opened the second by missing its first seven shots and committing four turnovers. That allowed Meigs to grab a 16-11 cushion, but the Warriors put up 10 straight, including a pair of triples from Stadelman, to take a 21-16 advantage.

However, the Marauders of head coach Ryan Davis scored the final six points thanks to a pair of makes by Tracy and a Landen Dewees deuce.
“It always takes a quarter or two to see what you got and what you’re against,” admitted coach Maddox, whose team made 10 of 13 from the floor in the third and shot 73% (19 of 26) after intermission. “We knew coming in that we were playing well. We didn’t play a great first half. Of course, 10 turnovers and 1 for whatever (8) at the foul line and shot 25% (8 of 24), and we’re down one.
“We’re going into halftime believe it or not and we said ‘look, it’s not going to get much worse than that’ so we attacked and you can see the second half and the field goal percentage. Julian finally found the gaps, attacked and extended their defense a little bit. Lupardus and lefty (two), just the whole team did a nice job of just getting the ball in great scoring position.”
Maddox, who challenges his team to have single digit turnovers for the entire game, watched his Warriors make just one in the final 16 minutes.
“It’s lefty one and lefty two. Lupardus is lefty one and Wells is lefty two,” explained coach Maddox. “That’s their names.

“When they first started they would only go to the left side and they could never play together because they had to both be on the left side. That’s their little nicknames.”
A 14-5 run by the Warriors to open the fourth, which included a three-point play by Wells, helped salt away a victory where both Anthony and Jacob Sealey, who had five assists, took a charge apiece.
“Colin came in and did an awesome job,” said Maddox. “Sealey doesn’t always score a lot for us, but always gets the toughest defensive person. Just proud of what he does even though he’s not scoring right now.”
When asked about the turnaround in the second half, coach Maddox said they didn’t really change much.
“Strategy-wise, no,” he said. “We just found the gaps and attacked from maybe the baseline maybe a little bit more and from the wing instead of up top. It just took some time.
First quarter, Julian I think has two go in-and-out (3s) and we missed four layups. We just didn’t miss in the second half. Barry hit some big shots for us and we took care of the ball.”
Dustin Vance came off the bench for Meigs and finished with 12 points and eight rebounds. Carson Davis had nine markers and seven caroms in the setback.
Stadelman finished with a game-high seven dimes on a night where Meigs missed 16 of 19 from downtown and shot 37.9% (22 of 58) from the field.
“It’s special. I know all three of them,” Maddox said of Hall of Honor inductees Janet Chase, Mike Lewis and John Mitchem.
“I know one of them very well. I another one very well and worked with one of them. Very honored to be able to go up to the dinner and then celebrate with them a nice victory.”
Both teams return to action at home Saturday with River Valley invading Meigs and the Warriors playing host to Fort Frye.
