Roundup: Marietta picks up win at Akron East
AKRON — Marietta jumped out to a 17-4 lead after one and never looked back en route to a 57-37 victory Tuesday at Akron East.
The Tigers, now 13-3, are at home today against Athens.
Brayden Jones led Marietta, which led 30-10 at halftime and 45-24 after three, with 11 points. Trey Hawkins added 10 points while Owen Riley and Zaiden Wittekind chipped in eight apiece.
Southern 44, Waterford 34
RACINE — Waterford put up a good fight against the top team in the TVC Hocking, but ultimately fell short 44-34 Tuesday at Southern.
The Tornadoes (14-3 overall, 8-0 TVC Hocking) got a game-high 23 points from Andre Chandler plus eight from Kase Nelson.
Waterford, which dropped to 7-9 overall and 2-5 in the league, received 14 points from Gavin Hiener and seven apiece from Reese Lang and Cole Sparling-Ponchak.
Knotted up at 11-all after one, Waterford outscored Southern 5-3 in a low scoring second period to take a 16-14 advantage into halftime. Southern, however, outscored Waterford 16-9 in the third to go up 30-25 and held on from there.
The Wildcats play host to Federal Hocking Thursday while the Tornadoes can clinch the TVC Hocking championship outright with a win Friday at Belpre.

Williamstown 55, Wahama 23
MASON — Williamstown flexed its muscles against Wahama Tuesday, pulling away for a 55-23 victory.
The Yellowjackets (13-4) led 17-4 after one, 27-13 at halftime and 41-17 after three.
Quinn Bunch scored a game-high 23 points to lead Williamstown, which visits Ritchie County Friday. Gracie Montgomery added 17 points and Faith Pickens chipped in 10.
