Ron Kidder named to OHSVCA Hall of Fame

It is with great pleasure that the Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association announces the 2025 Hall of Fame induction of Ron Kidder, Head Volleyball Coach at Marietta High School. Coach Kidder enters the Hall of Fame with a total career record of 521 wins and 150 losses over a 28 year career as a head coach. He has been at Marietta High School for 17 years (2008-present) and previously coached at Warren High School for 11 years (1997-2007).

Ron was born in Marietta, Ohio to parents Ronald and Sandra Kidder. He graduated from Marietta High School where he participated in football and track for the Tigers. His immediate family includes his wife, Tonya, oldest daughter Cassie (JT) Nesselroad and grandkids Mia and Miles and younger daughter Chelsea (Kara) Baldy. Coach Kidder is a bus driver for Marietta City Schools.

Throughout his career he has led his teams to 14 Conference Championships (Southeastern Ohio Athletic League 10 times, East Central Ohio League 2 times, and Twin State League 2 times), 4 District Championships (1998, 2000, 2023 and 2024), and 2 Regional Runner-Up titles (2000 and 2023). Coach Kidder was awarded SEOAL Coach of the Year 10 times and ECOL Coach of the Year 2 times. He earned District 13 Coach of the Year 20 times and in 2015 he received the District 13 Coach’s Achievement Award for Division II. Ron was awarded the State Coach’s Achievement Award for Division II 3 times (2010, 2023, 2024). He coached in 2 State All-Star Matches (2010 and 2024) and was chosen to coach in the District 13 All-Star Match 20 times.

Coach Kidder is currently a lifetime member of the Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association where he has been active for 28 years. He has served District 13 as a mentor and supporter to those serving on the board. His relentless efforts have helped develop and grow the sport of volleyball in Southeast Ohio, fostering a competitive spirit that encourages players to give their best, both on and off the court. Ron’s passion for the game is contagious and has inspired countless athletes to reach their full potential. This can be seen through 20 years of Coach K’s Volleyball Camp where it reached new heights with approximately 200 campers in 2024, and running the area’s youth volleyball league with over 50 teams. Ron has coached club volleyball for 25 years helping his teams qualify for the National tournament twice.

The OHSVCA Board of Directors unequivocally recognizes that Ron Kidder has earned his spot in the Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Hall of Fame.
