Warren boys 4×400 relay team sets regional record

NEW CONCORD — Day one of the Division II regional track meet Thursday at Muskingum University was a success for Warren High School.

Highlighting the day for Warriors was the boys 4×800 relay team, which finished first with a regional record time of 7 minutes, 56.85 seconds. The foursome consisted of Jake Herriott, Trent Sayre, Preston Rowland-Demster and Ethan Yost. The record previously was held by Carrollton, which clocked in at 7:57.07 in 2016.

While those Warriors were the only ones to clinch a state berth Thursday, there still are several more in the running going into Saturday’s finals.

Warren’s 4×400 relay team of Isaiah Kitts, Sayre, Justin Lough and Yost finished first in the preliminaries with a time of 3:25.99.

Individually, Lough advanced in the 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles prelims, finishing third at 39.95 in the 300 and seventh at 15.64 in the 110. Yost will compete in the 400 finals after crossing fifth at 51.36 in the prelims.

Pole vaulter Landon Wigal finished 10th at 12 feet.

On the girls side, he 4×400 team of Emme Bowe, Hope Murdock, Abigail Werry and Allison Werry had the top finish of the day, finishing sixth with a time of 4:15.12. Also advancing was the 4×200 team of Murdock, Allison Werry, Bowe and Erin Bogard (eighth, 1:50.53).

The 4×800 team of Caroline Stollar, Jenna Walter, Casey Brague and Devanne Reynolds placed seventh at 10:14.38.

Individually, Bogard was eighth in the 100 hurdles prelims at 16.48 while Allison Werry was eighth in the 400 prelims with a time of 1:02.55. Both will try to place fourth or better Saturday.

Thrower Millie Ryan scored a point for the Lady Warriors with an eighth place finish in the shot put (34-4).

Also competing in the D2 meet was Morgan High, which saw pole vaulter Cade Mollahan qualify for state with a third place finish (14-0).
