Belpre girls defeat South Gallia, 54-28

BELPRE– Kyna Waderker was the game leader in points with 20, as the Belpre Golden Eagles made short work of South Gallia in a Tri-Valley Conference showdown with a final of 54-28.

“Kyna runs the floor so well and did a good job getting into position tonight,” said Golden Eagles coach Chris Murray. Abey Linton made three from deep giving her nine points, Jaylynn Linton chipped in with seven.

Up 28-7 going into halftime, coach Murray was able to give some of his younger players some game time action. Murray was impressed with how they played in the second half.

“What I like most was there wasn’t really a drop off in defense, they played with great intensity,” Murray said.

Leading the way for South Gallia was Jessie Rutt’s seven points and Mikayla Waugh’s six points. Improving to 11-3 on the season, Belpre hits the road Monday to face Eastern.

Williamstown 80, Tyler Consolidated 39

KIDWELL– Jenna Pridemore’s 16 points was the game-high as the fourth-ranked Yellowjackets defeated Tyler Consolidated 80-39.

Only up by seven at the end of the first, the Yellowjackets outscored the Knights 63-29 to put the game out of reach.

Double figure scorers for Williamstown were Mara Rinehart with 12 and Bethany Arnold with 11. Taylor Newton made three 3s, bringing her total to nine points as the Yellowjackets improved to 10-2 on the season. They take on Eastern Saturday at 2:30 p.m.

Matching Pridemore with 16 of her own, Josey Jones was the leader in points for the Knights, while Peyton Kocher was the other Knight in double figuers with 10.

Tyler fell to 6-5 and will travel to Ellenboro on Monday to face the Ritchie County Rebels.

Parkersburg Catholic 64, Ritchie County 33

ELLENBORO — Parkersburg Catholic improved to 10-1 with a 64-33 win against host Ritchie County Thursday.

The Crusaderettes, who travel to Tucker County Saturday, got a game-high 24 points from Madeline Huffman and 12 apiece from Aaliyah Brunny and Leslie Huffman.

The Rebels, who visit Magnolia Saturday, were led in scoring by Abi Haught’s 15 points.

Parkersburg 87, Capital 41

PARKERSBURG — Parkersburg High, ranked No.1 in Class AAA, rolled to an 87-41 victory over Capital Thursday at Memorial Fieldhouse.

Five Big Reds (scored in double figures, led by 12 each from Shay-Lee Kirby, Aleea Crites and Bre Wilson. Hayley McCale and Emily Kupfner tacked on 11 apiece as PHS improved to 10-1 overall this season.

Capital (3-6) was led by Enijah Allen’s game-high 17 points.

Parkersburg now turns its attention to Wednesday’s matchup against second-ranked South Charleston.
