Recognizing hard work: Marietta recognizes public workers for commitments

MARIETTA — Public workers for the city of Marietta were recognized for hard work and dedication on Wednesday.
The community and departments of the city gathered at the steps of the City Hall to recognize coworkers and friends.
National Public Works Week is celebrated from May 18-24 and acknowledges the contributions of professionals in public works departments. Public works refers to governmental groups that improve public services such as streets, bridges, water and sewer systems.
Awards were given to employees in the public works departments for Marietta.
Mayor Josh Schlicher announced the workers who were nominated for the certificate and gave each employee a formal award to recognize their commitment to the job.

“We recognize his outstanding performance and ability to create a positive work environment,” Schlicher said to Matt Schaad, an equipment operator in the Public Works Department. “You have not only met deadlines but are collaborating with others and demonstrated leadership qualities that inspired others.”
One by one, five employees of the public works departments accepted their certificates to be publicly recognized for their efforts to keep Marietta beautiful.
The five employees were:
-Jake Brown, laborer 2, Public Works Department Facilities Division
-Matt Schaad, equipment operator 1, Public Works Department Facilities Division
