NEW MATAMORAS — A single-motorcycle crash involving a fatality occurred on June 27 at approximately 3:30 a.m is currently being investigated by the Marietta Patrol Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred on Ohio 7 near Milepost 54 in Grandview Township.

According to a release from the highway patrol, Tyler Humphrey, 19, of Newport, was driving a 2025 Suzuki GSX-R750 southbound on Ohio 7 when the motorcycle traveled off the right side of the roadway. Humphrey was separated from the motorcycle as it overturned and struck a ditch. According to the release, investigators say they suspect speed is a contributing factor in the crash.

Responding to the scene was the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Grandview Township Volunteer Fire Department and squad, Washington County Coroner’s Office and Shea Towing.

The crash remains under investigation by the Marietta Post.
