Gossett – 55th
Bernard and Janet Gossett of Marietta will be celebrating their 55th wedding anniversary Saturday, Sept. 5.
Bernard Gossett and the former Janet Hasley were married Sept. 5, 1965, at the Marietta E.U.B. (Evangelical United Brethren) Church, now Faith United Methodist Church, on Seventh Street in Marietta with the Rev. John Robbins officiating. Janet is the daughter of the late Dean Hasley and the late Mary Hasley Kepler. Bernard is the son of the late Wilson and Grace Gossett.
Janet retired in March 2010 from The Marietta Times, where she had been employed for 37 1/2 years. Prior to that, she had been employed by Dean Wark, Accountant, in Marietta for five years.
Bernard retired in April 2004 after 35 years from Kardex Systems in Reno when the company moved its operations to Pennsylvania. Prior to that he had been employed by Skuttle Manufacturing in Marietta for nine years.
Mr. and Mrs. Gossett are charter members of Twin Rivers Baptist Church in Whipple, where Mrs. Gossett teaches a junior church class.
The couple have three children: Teresa Stoops and her husband, Tony, of Marietta; Tim Gossett and his wife, Michele, of Marietta; and Randy Gossett and his wife, Tara, of Belpre. They also have nine grandchildren: Ashley Guilmette, Ryan Perry, Alex Newell, Belle Stoops, Casey Gossett, Dani Gossett, Megan Gossett, Jessica Gossett and Carter Gossett. They also have 10 great-grandchildren: Brynnley, Hayden, Alana, Chase, Madison, Bailey, Charlotte, Destiny, Izzabella and Leah.
