Richard and Juanita Wetz celebrate 75 years of love
The greatest love story ever told officially began on the morning of Feb. 3, 1946, when Richard Wetz picked up his bride-to-be, Juanita (Hughes), in his 1937 Ford Thunderbolt and drove to the wedding venue, the living room of the Rev. Otto Breuhaus, the pastor of St. John’s Church of Lowell, Ohio. Seventy-five years later, Richard says he can’t remember a time when he wasn’t married and Juanita wonders how she’s been able to put up with his antics for so long. Former residents of Marietta and Portsmouth, they have lived in Huber Heights, Ohio for the past 56 years. Their love, having endured through the raising of three children, many reruns of “The Lawrence Welk Show,” countless dances, and now a pandemic, will be celebrated this Wednesday in true 2021 fashion — via Zoom.
