Dicksons celebrating 70th

Robert and Catherine Dickson

Robert and Catherine Dickson of Marietta will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary on Sunday, Aug. 9, during the 10 a.m. Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marietta.

Robert and Catherine were married on Aug. 11, 1956, at St. Mary's Church in Marietta by Monsignor Edwin F. Murphy.

Robert is the son of the late Robert E. and Lucille V. Dickson and Catherine is the daughter of the late William F. and Genevieve C. Wesel.

The couple has three children; Greg Dickson and his wife Darca; Debbie Gaydosh and her husband James; and Cathy Rauch and her husband David. Grandchildren are Mark (Ivy), Todd (Chrissy), Kelly (Hannah), Sarah, Katie, Laura and Marie. Great-grandchildren are Devon, Todd, and Finnegan.

Robert graduated from St. Mary Catholic High School.

He is a veteran of the Korean War. He served 16 months in Korea in the U.S. Army and obtained the rank of sergeant.

He retired from Marietta Ignition Inc. where he was employed for 39 years. Active in the Knights of Columbus, he enjoys hunting, racing and showing his 1929 Ford Truck.

Catherine graduated from St. Mary Catholic High School and attended Marietta College to study music. She worked in the family business, Marietta Ignition, for 50 years, from which she is now retired. She enjoys music and playing the piano.

Robert and Catherine enjoy spending time with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They are both active members of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
