Vanessa Rose Sprague and Gerald John Tiberio Jr. (Jerry) were united in marriage on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Churchtown, Ohio. The bride is the daughter of Douglas and Janelle Sprague of Fleming. She is the granddaughter of Shirley (Bob) Oliver of Marietta and the late Ralph Stollar and Eileen Sprague (Harold Hoskinson) of Fleming and the late Glenn Sprague. The groom is the son of Dr. Gerald and Claire Tiberio of Zanesville and the grandson of the late Nicholas and Laura Tiberio and the late William and Jeanne Bissmeyer. Father Vincent Hawk from Loudonville, Ohio was the celebrant and Susan Davis of Zanesville was the pianist and cantor. Carol Graham, aunt of the groom, and Sherry Bentley, aunt of the bride served as lectors and Rob Stollar, uncle of the bride, read the petitions. Will and Tom Bernath were the altar servers. Kay and Mark Eicher, aunt and uncle of the bride and the couple’s matchmaker, served as guest registrars. Maya Vogelsong and Brendan Bernath passed out programs to guests and Ben Rucker and Madi and Macy Vogelsong passed bubbles to guests following the ceremony.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a full A-line shaped gown with a sweetheart neckline with delicately beaded lace appliques on tulle, and a bodice with corset boning and a sheer lace back panel. The gown was finished with scalloped lace along the hem and a long flowing train. Accenting the gown was a simple lace veil and beaded headband. She carried a hand tied bouquet comprised of light pink garden roses and hot pink roses, lovingly created by her aunt, Cheryl Lang. Tucked into the bouquet were pieces of jewelry from the bride’s mother, the groom’s mother, groom’s maternal grandmother, the brides paternal grandmother, great-grandmother, and a rosary belonging to her maternal grandmother.
Serving as maid of honor was sister of the bride, Olivia Sprague. She wore a flowing short navy lace and mesh dress with an illusion neckline. Accenting her dress were hot pink open toed shoes and pearl dangle earrings to match, a gift from the bride and groom. She carried a bouquet of white and hot pink roses. The bridesmaids wore dresses, shoes and earrings identical to the maid of honor’s and carried matching bouquets. Bridesmaids included Theresa Bernath (sister of the groom), Jeanne Rucker (sister of the groom), Aundrea Bentley (cousin of the bride), Lizzie Munoz (friend of the bride), Maggie Lawlor (friend of the bride), Krista Youngpeter (friend of the bride), and Brittany Cermak (friend of the bride). Serving as flower girls were Lily Bernath and Olivia Rucker, nieces of the groom, and Zayda Stollar, cousin of the bride.
The best man was Thomas Tiberio (brother of the groom). Groomsmen were Ryan Bernath (brother-in-law of the groom), John Rucker (brother-in-law of the groom), Jay Schmitt (friend of the groom), Scott Peyton (friend of the groom), Chris Greco (friend of the groom), Derrick Moorehead (friend of the groom) and Adam Larson (friend of the groom). Serving as ring bearer was Nicholas Bernath, nephew of the groom. The groomsmen and ring bearer wore dark grey Vera Wang tuxedos with navy ties to match while the groom wore a black silk tie.
A reception followed the ceremony at the Marietta Shrine Club with a cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing. Dinner and dance music were provided by Chris Fouss of DJ Associates for guests both far and near.
The bride is a graduate of Ashland University and Miami University and is currently a preschool intervention specialist in Newark, Ohio. The groom is a graduate of the University of Dayton and Akron School of Law. He is currently a practicing attorney in Zanesville, where the couple resides. The couple honeymooned in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
