A Marietta man has been charged with the murder of his 2-month-old son, Washington County authorities said on Monday.
Michael A. Dawson, 101 Longacre St., was arrested on Sunday for the murder of his son, Gannon, who died on July 25. Emergency crews responded to Dawson’s home on July 23 when Gannon was taken to Marietta Memorial Hospital then flown by medical helicopter to Nationwide Children’ Hosptial in Columbus. Staff at Marietta Memorial feared the baby was abused, Sheriff Larry Mincks said.
Mincks and Prosecutor Nicole Coil held a press conference this afternoon.
Dawson was arraigned and remanded to the Washington County jail on $500,000 bond.
