Traffic on Ohio 550 near the Goodfellows Park was blocked in both directions Thursday night after a police pursuit ended in a crash and car fire.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the pursuit started in Marietta on Fourth Street. The driver crashed at the turn near the park and fled up into the woods. Members of the highway patrol and Washington County Sheriff’s Office set up a perimeter, but were unable to find the driver.
A highway patrol trooper said they aren’t 100 percent sure who the driver is, as the car’s license plate belongs to a person who does not live locally. The investigation is ongoing.
