Confirmed cases of coronavirus again spiked over the weekend in the Mid-Ohio Valley.
From reports by Ohio and West Virginia health authorities, Ohio jumped in confirmed cases state-wide by 14,869 new reports between Friday and Sunday and 1,127 new probable cases, with 41 deaths.
West Virginia saw an increase of 2,538 confirmed cases, 541 new probable cases and 39 deaths.
Locally, Washington and Wood counties reported 354 new confirmed cases over the weekend, 51 new probable cases, six new hospitalizations and three new deaths combined.
Pleasants County also reported one new death and seven new cases over the weekend.
Surrounding Ohio counties also saw increases as follows over the weekend:
Athens County: increased 65 new cases, seven new hospitalizations.
Meigs County: increased by 26 new cases, two new hospitalizations.
Counties without their own hospitals saw the following increases:
Monroe County: increased by 19 new cases, one new hospitalization.
Morgan County: 18 new cases.
Noble County: 23 new cases.
Marietta City Schools also reported on Saturday that 11 people, one staff member and 10 students, are now in quarantine following the report of another positive case infiltrating Marietta Middle School.
The current cumulative confirmed case count for the school district between six academic buildings and the central office is 23, according to the district's COVID-19 dashboard.
