¯ A deputy responded Dec. 19 to Par Mar, 100 Fifth St., Beverly, in reference to the theft of candy. Personnel advised Steven Hinton stole unknown candy that morning at approximately 5:30 a.m. A review of surveillance cameras revealed Hinton putting a yellow and orange item in his left coat pocket while in the candy aisle. The deputy responded to Hinton’s residence, 607 Center St., Beverly, and asked Hinton about the incident. Hinton was unsure why he took the item but did admit he took a Reece’s peanut butter cup candy bar. Hinton, 52, was advised that a summons would be requested for him for theft through Marietta Municipal Court and that he was not to return to the business.

¯ A deputy responded to Liberty Township on Dec. 21 to a report of a storage shed being broken into. This case remains under investigation.

¯ A sergeant responded Dec. 21 to 130 Greene St., upper apartment, Newport, to a criminal damage complaint. It was reported that Christopher McCutcheon broke the door to this apartment. It was further reported that McCutcheon, who lives in the downstairs apartment, was possibly upset about the noise from upstairs. Due to the damage of the door, the door was unable to be locked. McCutcheon stated he went to the residence to talk about the noise and when he hit the door a few times it came open. McCutcheon was advised the door jamb was broke and it was a recent break. The value of the damage was listed at $175. A summons is being requested for Christopher L. McCutcheon, 37, of 130 Greene St., Lower Apartment, Newport, for disorderly conduct and criminal damaging.

¯ A deputy met Wednesday with James Stalnaker of St. Marys in reference to a storage building entering at 38841 State Route 7, Newport, and numerous items being stolen. This case remains under investigation.

¯ A sergeant was dispatched Wednesday to Williams Street, Marietta, to a report of Benjamin Levi Zartman pushing another individual. The sergeant was advised that Zartman lived there, in the basement, temporarily. Zartman was asked to turn the television down and he got up off of the couch and pushed the victim. He was again asked to turn the television down, and this is when he pushed the victim much harder and he/she fell on a mattress and box springs laying on the floor. The sergeant made contact with Zartman in a nearby field as he was fleeing from law enforcement. Benjamin Levi Zartman, 27, was arrested on one count of domestic violence.

¯ On Thursday, a deputy was dispatched in reference to an individual having unwanted contact with Joshua S. Gibson of Parkersburg. After completing the investigation it was determined that a summons would be requested for Joshua S. Gibson, 36, of 2202 Staunton Ave., Parkersburg, on a charge of telecommunications harassment, through Marietta Municipal Court.

¯ A sergeant was dispatched Thursday to Railroad Street, Whipple, to a report of Terry Vaughn Callihan needing medical attention. Callihan was located and it was determined he had been drinking at a local establishment and upon returning home was beaten up by four individuals. At the conclusion of the investigation it was determined that a summons would be requested for Callihan, 54, of 60 Railroad St., Whipple, on a charge of disorderly conduct.

¯ Deputies responded to a report Saturday of Jeana Lee Christy stabbing a male victim. He explained Christy was in a drunken state when an argument began between them. He stated Christy struck him with an unknown item on the head and along his arms. Christy denied causing any harm to the man. Christy, 38, of Marietta, was transported to the hospital, where she was later medically cleared and then placed under arrest for domestic violence.

Arrests/Washington County

The following individuals were recently processed into the Washington County Jail:

¯ Benjamin Levi Zartman, 27, of Marietta, was arrested for domestic violence, a misdemeanor.

¯ Joshua Cecil Poole, 32, of 103 Monroe St., Woodsfield, was arrested for probation violation, possessing drug abuse instruments and resisting arrest, all misdemeanors; two counts of possession of drugs, and illegal conveyance of drugs, all felonies.

¯ Jason Lee Myers, 36, of 685 Mitchells Lane, Marietta, was arrested for theft, a felony, and possessing drug abuse instruments, a misdemeanor.

¯ Matthew Edward Lang, IV, 40 , of 50120 State Route 7, New Matamoras, was arrested for two counts of OVI and contempt of court, all misdemeanors.

¯ Shawn Eugene Covey, 43, of 713 Green St., Apt. A, Marietta, was arrested for disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor.

¯ Jeana Lee Christy, 38, of Marietta, was arrested for domestic violence, a misdemeanor.

¯ Zachary Kyle Blum, 31, homeless, was arrested for escape, illegal conveyance of drugs, failure to comply, possession of drugs, all felonies; and faulty exhaust, failure to control, driving under suspension, fictitious plates, reckless operation and speed, all misdemeanors.

¯ Angelo Antonio Vance Jr., 31, of 628 Front St., Marietta, was arrested for possession of fentanyl, a felony.

¯ Abby Gayle Little, 30, of 1407 Station Drive, St. Marys, was arrested for theft, a misdemeanor.

¯ Shawn Lee Whittekind, 43, of 233 Broughton Ave., Marietta, was arrested for parole violation, a felony.
