Reconstruction of the hillside at the landslip on Ohio 60 between Lowell and Devola continues as one-lane traffic takes turns between north and southbound traffic Tuesday. "We're doing a bit of a traffic pattern change next week," said Ohio Department of Transportation Public Information Officer Ashley Rittenhouse. "The project is about 45 percent complete at this point. All of the Phase One shafts and lagging wall are completed (that which hold up the slipping hill). So the traffic switch for Phase Two of the project will take place next week." She explained that the same lane closest to the Muskingum River will remain open for varied traffic alternating, but the location of the closure will shift up river with the worksite. "Right now we have an estimated completion date of Aug. 1," she said. The road has been limited to one-lane with a stop light at each end of the slip since 2018. Rittenhouse said the total projected cost of the project is $3,847,347.70.
