Less than two weeks after his wife was sentenced to nine months in prison, a Marietta man was also sentenced Monday to nine months in prison for sex crimes upon a minor.
Ryan William Seevers, 24, of 129 Shook Road, was indicted in November 2020 for rape, a first-degree felony; complicity in the commission of an offense, also a first-degree felony; and gross sexual imposition, a third-degree felony.
His wife, Lyrisha Marie Seevers, 23, of 276 Ridgewood Drive, Apt. G, Marietta, was indicted on the same charges. The pair pleaded guilty to an amended count of attempted gross sexual imposition, a fourth-degree felony.
They were initially charged with the rape of a child who was 6 years old at the time of the offenses, which occurred between April 1 and Nov. 26, 2019.
“This was a rape involving a female child under the age of 13,” said Washington County Prosecutor Nicole Coil at the time of their indictment in November. “It involved both of them at the same time.”
Seevers could have received a maximum of 18 months in prison, according to court documents. He pleaded guilty to the amended count three, with counts one and two dismissed.
During Monday morning’s sentencing, there were no statements from Coil, representatives from Washington County Children Services, Defense Attorney Shawna Landaker or Seevers.
Washington County Common Pleas Judge Mark Kerenyi said Seevers was not amenable to any community control sanctions and there was no credit for time served while incarcerated.
Seevers received a mandatory five years of post release control and will be listed as a Tier II sex offender.
