MHS hosts annual Band-O-Rama

With cooler temperatures in the morning and early afternoon on Saturday, the weather was just right for crowds to gather at Don Drumm Stadium for the 60th annual Band-O-Rama.
Band-O-Rama, founded in 1961, is the longest-running marching competition in the state of Ohio.
Seven bands showed up Saturday to perform, starting with Belpre High School and wrapping up with Marietta's own Wall of Sound.
The competition was judged by verified Ohio Music Education Association Adjudicators and used the complete OMEA Adjudication scoring system.
Perry High School, Lancaster High School and John Glenn High School were the three teams from the competition that will be moving on to compete in the two-weekend long state band competition at the University of Dayton.
According to Korey Parlin, the Marietta High School band director, Marietta's band will be travelling to Maysville High School in two weeks to compete for a spot in the Dayton event.

Class C:
Belpre High School won best auxiliary, best percussion and first place.
Class B:
John Glenn High School won best percussion and first place.
Meigs High School won best auxiliary and second place.
Maysville High School won third place.
Class AA:
Perry High School won best percussion and first place.
Lancaster High School won best auxiliary and second place
Overall awards:
Perry High School won overall percussion, general effect, visuals, music, and were awarded the title of grand champion.
Meigs High School won overall auxiliary.
