A Marietta woman was sentenced to 60 days in jail Monday morning for trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound.
Jessica Renee Crabtree, 36, of 731 Glendale Road Apt. 2, Marietta, was indicted on three charges as a result of the death of Tyler J. Steed in April 2020.
She and William J. Saylor, 41, of the same address, were accused of supplying the drugs that led to a fatal overdose.
Crabtree was indicted on one count of involuntary manslaughter, a first-degree felony, and two counts of trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound, both fifth-degree felonies.
She pleaded guilty to the fifth-degree offense in January and as part of the plea agreement, the other two counts were dropped.
Before she was sentenced, Washington County Assistant Prosecutor Joe Derkin read a statement from the victim's mother that said she was happy Crabtree was getting treatment. He noted the defendant has children and they need their mother.
Crabtree made no statement on her own behalf.
Along with the jail time, she received five years community control. When a bed is available, she will be sent to the STAR Community Justice Center.
Washington County Common Pleas Judge Mark Kerenyi said if she violates any of her sanctions, she will be sent to prison for 12 months.
Saylor was indicted on one count of involuntary manslaughter, a first-degree felony, and one count of trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound, a fifth-degree felony.
He pleaded guilty to both counts and was sentenced in September to four years in prison for the first count and six months in prison on the second count, to run concurrently.
