One killed in Ohio 339 accident
One person was killed Thursday night in a two-vehicle accident at Ohio 339 and Washington County 806 (Spence Lane), according to the Marietta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Joslyn L. Trent, 19, of Marietta sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center where she was pronounced dead, the patrol said.
A 1996 Honda Civic operated by Dylan M. Ours, 20, of Waterford and a 1999 Chevrolet Blazer operated by Timothie J. Haught, 22, of Vincent were involved in the accident at Route 339 and Spence Lane, according to the patrol.
The investigation found Haught was traveling north on Route 339 and was attempting to turn left onto Spence Lane, the patrol said. He failed to yield to southbound traffic and was struck by Ours’ vehicle, the patrol said.
Haught and Ours sustained non-life threatening injuries, the patrol said. A juvenile passenger in Haught’s vehicle was flown to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus with serious injuries, the patrol said.
Trent was a passenger in Ours’ vehicle, the patrol said.
The accident happened shortly before 7:30 p.m., the patrol said.
Responding agencies include the Highway Patrol, Dunham Township Volunteer Fire Department, the Wesley Township Volunteer Fire Department, the Barlow Volunteer Fire Department and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the crash and the use of seatbelts is still being investigated, the patrol said. The crash remains under investigation by the Marietta Post.
