Every First Friday in downtown Marietta, Marietta Main Street hosts themed shopping nights and fun activities for families to enjoy in the heart of the city. May's First Friday shows you that an Adventure is Out There and invites locals and tourists alike to go on an adventure throughout downtown with late night shopping, drink specials, great food from local restaurants, and kid-friendly activities on the lawn of the Armory.
The title sponsor for May First Friday is Help Me Grow. Help Me Grow is a system of supports for pregnant women, caregivers with new babies, and families with young children with developmental delays and disabilities.
They will be on the Armory lawn with games for the kids and will be providing free developmental evaluations for kids under the age of three.
Darla Kemp, owner of Threadz Boutique, loves First Fridays "because I get to see the same sweet customers back each month as well as meet so many other new faces each and every month.
It's a great camaraderie with everyone downtown, from every business to each customer." Threadz Boutique will be offering Buy One Get One on their clearance merchandise.
There are several other downtown retailers taking you on an adventure this Friday night.
EmLeigh's & Mama B's will be having a large consignment section with giveaways all night long, Ullman Design will be holding a reception and book signing celebrating their 15th Anniversary, Andy's Toy Chest with be holding a crafting event with Craft Like a Mother and Jimmy Avocado's food truck will be parked outside.
Teri Ann's will be hosting a Rachel Marie Jewelry Trunk Show, Wit & Whimzy will be hosting local grower Little Muskingum Kettle Farm and every store purchase is entered to win a gift card.
Jeremiah's Coffee House will be having open mic night for all ages, local pop-up shops, raffling off tickets to Spring Market Vintage, Garden and Artisan Market, and introducing a new latte flavor.
Edward Jones will have a floral themed selfie station and "Bring a Plant Take a Plant." Marietta Adventure Company will be having a kayak showroom open house on the top floor of the building -- everyone who makes it upstairs will be entered to win a $50 gift certificate and can earn a second chance by making an in-store purchase.
Clutch Collective will be giving a free gift with a purchase of $50 or more from the shop, Marietta Wine Cellars will be having live music by Marty & Mitch along with a chance to win a two-bottle insulated wine tote with every $25 purchase.
MOVE Staffing will be having popcorn, cookies and a chance to win a gas card, and Hive Alive will be hosting a Summer Plein air painting event with an opportunity to enter a raffle for two Plein Air adventure paintings from the MOV.
In addition to late-night shopping, several downtown restaurants will be open offering specialty food and drinks.
740 Social will be having a tequila tasting flight, Levee House Bistro will be hosting Wild River Kayak Company and offering 10% of their new appetizer when paired with a cocktail. The Cozy Kitchen will be featuring their "Adventure is Out There" First Friday dinner (reservation only). Over The Moon Pizza will be having live music with Jake Binegar along with $2 slices of pepperoni or cheese pizza and Jeremiah's Coffee House will be introducing a new latte flavor.
Families are invited to the Armory to stop at tents hosted by Artsbridge, the United Way Alliance of the Mid-Ohio Valley and Oak Grove Christian School as part of Kid Central, a monthly pop-up for kids during First Friday events with fun family-oriented activities and more.
