Police investigate weekend homicide

A 23-year-old man was killed Saturday night at an apartment complex in the 300 block of Dale Street.

Marietta police officers were dispatched at 11:14 p.m. to a disturbance at the complex. Upon arrival, officers found an apartment with all windows smashed out. The unnamed victim had a severe stab wound in the torso, according to Marietta Police Chief Aaron Nedeff.

First aid efforts were performed by Marietta police and then by Marietta Fire Department. The victim was transported to Marietta Memorial Hospital, where shortly thereafter, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead, said Nedeff.

Throughout the night, officers held the scene, collecting evidence and interviewing involved persons, according to the Nedeff. Two suspects are in custody and the investigation is continuing.

Nedeff said more details will be released today.
