One dead in crash on I-77 at Emerson Avenue

Update: The driver of the truck, who was found deceased at the scene, has been identified as Brandon Lovejoy, 35, of Cambridge. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, Sheriff Rick Woodyard said.

PARKERSBURG - One person is dead following an accident this morning on Interstate 77 southbound near the Emerson Avenue exit at Parkersburg.

The Wood County Sheriff's Department is investigating the crash of a single truck that went through the guardrail and over a hill, Sheriff Rick Woodyard said.

Wood County 911 advised motorists after 7 a.m. to avoid the area because of a "very serious motor vehicle crash." One lane was open around 9 a.m. as first responders and Pifer's Towing & Recovery worked to remove the vehicle.
