Stockport man charged with attempted murder

A Stockport man was arrested Sunday afternoon and charged with attempted murder after pointing a loaded gun at his ex-wife in Wesley Township, according to a release from the Washington County Sheriff’s Department.
Dale Henry Pugh, 70, 5765 Patten Mills Road, Stockport, called a family member around 4:15 p.m. and made statements such as “it’s over. It’s done. I am taking care of it,” the release said, and a family member saw Pugh standing at a kitchen window with a loaded firearm.
“The windows were open and Pugh was pointing the rifle toward the greenhouse in the backyard, where (the victim) was gathering some of her belongings,” the release said. “Movement was seen in the greenhouse and the family member ran toward Pugh and grabbed ahold of the rifle, peeling it from his hands to gain control of it.”
Pugh had left the residence and was not at the scene when law enforcement arrived, responding to a call saying Pugh was going to kill the victim.
“Pugh later returned to the home and was interviewed by detectives. Pugh’s statement was consistent with what was reported,” according to the release.
Pugh was charged with attempted murder and is in custody at the Washington County Jail.
