¯ The Buildings and Grounds Committee will meet at noon on Friday at Beverly Center Elementary School, 510 Fifth St., Beverly.

¯ Area 15 Workforce Development Board Members from Monroe, Morgan, Noble and Washington Counties will meet from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. May 1 at Lori’s Restaurant, 17020 McConnelsville Road, Caldwell. In addition, the Boards of County Commissioners from Monroe, Morgan, Noble and Washington counties have scheduled an Area 15 Council of Governments Meeting the to follow at noon. ¯ The Buckeye Hills Regional Council Executive Committee will meet at 11:30 a.m. May 5, at Buckeye Hills Regional Council office, 1400 Pike St., Marietta. ¯ Public Employee Retirees Inc. will meet at 1 p.m. May 10 at Marietta First Church of the Nazarene, 100 Millcreek Road. This meeting is prior to the district meeting in June at Stockport. Open to all previous members and any interested retired employees of OPERS.

¯ The Fiscal 2024 (Round 18) Natural Resources Assistance Council committee meeting will be held 10 a.m. May 11 at Buckeye Hills Regional Council, 1400 Pike St. The meeting will review the Fiscal 2024 scoring methodology. ¯ Rachel Coyle, Co-Founder of How Things Work at the Ohio Statehouse, will be speaking at 7 p.m. today at the McDonough Auditorium on Marietta College campus. ¯ Beverly American Legion Post 389 public steak fry from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at the Post Home 114 Fifth St., Beverly. $15 includes steak, baked potato, salad and a roll. Band (The Edge) to follow steak fry.

≤ Marietta Friends of the Library will hold a book sale Friday through Tuesday at the Marietta Library Annex, 617 Fifth St. Hours are 5-7 p.m. for members only Friday. A membership may be purchased at the door. Hours are 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Monday and Tuesday. Tuesday will be bag day with a full bag of books for $2. Other prices are paperback 50 cents, children’s three for $1, hardcover $1 and yearbooks, $5.

¯ Barlow Township spring cleanup days are Friday through Sunday. Dumpsters will be located across the street from the fire department on Warrior Drive. Please read the acceptable items posted on the dumpsters.

¯ The Washington County Historical Society would like to invite the public to its monthly meeting May 1 at 7 p.m. at the Anchorage located in Marietta’s West Side on George Street. David Baker will be presenting a program on George Washington’s activities in the area. Even though the county was named in his honor there are many other connections to the first President that will be revealed during this presentation. The program is open to all but membership or becoming a member is encouraged.

¯ May 1 is the deadline for the annual Ohio Business Week entrepreneurship camp for high school students. It will be June 18 – 23 at Bowling Green State University.

¯ St. Luke’s Episcopal Church is hosting its monthly community meal on May 2 from 5-6 p.m. The meal is dine-in or take-out. To ensure that there are sufficient take-out meals available for pick-up, you must call the church office at 740-373-5132 by noon on Tuesday. Give your name and the number of meals you are requesting. A limit may be imposed. If you do not call in advance, we may not be able to fulfill your request.

¯ Fearing Township is offering dust control to all residents. The cost is $220 for 100 ft by 12ft. ¯ Hidden Marietta’s Fifth Annual Paranormal Exposition will be 10 a.m.-4 p.m. May 6, at the Washington County Fairgrounds, 422 Front St., Marietta. Admission is $15. Organizers plan a day of psychics, ghosts, monsters, reiki, the paranormal and more. There will be more than 75 paranormal vendors, five speakers and food trucks. There will be an array of things to experience and learn.

¯ Friends of Forgotten Felines is holding a fundraiser in front of Tractor Supply, 100 Cherry Tree Lane on Saturday May 12, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. with a $5 hotdog, chips and a drink. All proceeds benefit the nonprofit organization dedicated to the care of abandoned felines in the area.

¯ St. Henry Catholic Church in Harriettsville will hold its annual Mother’s Day dinner from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 14. Chicken dinners will be served; carry-out and dine-in available. For more information call 740-373-2882.

¯ Marietta Township’s School Reunion will take place May 20 at the Marietta Township Community Building in Reno.

Former students of Sand Hill, Reno, Goose Run, Jennings Hill, Cornerville, Barker and Yankeeburg schools are included. Meat, coffee, tea and table service will be provided. Guests are asked to bring a covered dish to share and memorabilia of your school and community. Other guests are welcome. ¯ The Stanleyville Schools Reunion will be held on Saturday June 3 at noon, in the Fearing Twp. Community Bldg. 1995 Stanleyville Rd. This is for anyone who attended , or family member of those who attended , any of the three Stanleyville Schools. Please bring a covered dish for the potluck meal. Meat, drinks, plates and silverware will be furnished. Bring an item for the raffle drawing, if you wish. A 50/50 drawing will add to your enjoyment. Come and enjoy an afternoon of seeing ole classmates and making new friends.

¯ A free community meal will be held 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. the fourth Tuesday of the month at First Presbyterian Church, 501 Fourth St., Marietta. Pickup only. Enter through the church parking lot from Wooster Street.

¯ A faith-based cancer support group will be offered at noon on the second Monday of the month at Gilman United Methodist Church, 312 Gilman Ave., Marietta.

¯ The 1955 graduating class of Marietta High School will meet 11:30 a.m. the second Wednesday of the month at the Harmar Tavern until further notice for the monthly luncheon gathering. All classmates and friends are welcome.

¯ Christ United Methodist Church, 301 Wooster St., Marietta, will offer a free takeout meal from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. the first Friday of the month. All are welcome.

¯ Gilman United Methodist Church offers worship at 10:30 a.m. Sundays. Come early to join the adult Sunday school class at 9:15 a.m. Coffee, light refreshments and good fellowship at “Coffee Time” held at 9:30 a.m. every Sunday, at 312 Gilman Ave., Marietta. A weekly adult Bible study with Pastor Doug Thompson is also offered at 10 a.m. Wednesdays and 6 p.m. Sundays. All are welcome.

¯ The Alzheimer’s Association offers professionally led groups for caregivers, individuals living with Alzheimer’s and others dealing with the disease of dementia. All support groups are facilitated by trained individuals. Meetings in the area include: Marietta Support Group, from 10-11:30 a.m. first Friday of the month at the O’Neill Center, 333 Fourth St., Marietta; facilitator: Krissy Kearns, 937-974-2387. Belpre Chamber of Commerce from 1-2:40 p.m. second Monday of the month at 713 Park Drive, Belpre; facilitator: Susie Casto.

¯ The O’Neill Center will hold chair volleyball at 9 a.m. Wednesdays, except the second Wednesday of the month.

¯ Mani/pedis with appointments starting at 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. every second and fourth Tuesday of the month. Cost is $16 for manicure and $33 for pedicure. Call the O’Neill Center for appointments.

¯ TOPS 399, Marietta, meets 6 p.m. Tuesdays at the First Church of the Nazarene to help members lose weight by group support to a goal set by each member’s physician. Weigh-in is between 5:30 and 6 p.m. Visitors are welcome, and the first meeting is free. Call Cindy at 740-629-2957 for details. TOPS Club Inc. is a nonprofit, weight-loss support and wellness education organization in the United States and Canada. Members learn about nutrition, portion control, motivation, food planning and exercise at weekly meetings.

Classes/Workshops/Programs/Seminars

¯ Zumba classes will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and 11:30 a.m. Monday at the O’Neill Center. The cost is $5 per class or $25 for six classes. All ages welcome. For more information, call 740-373-3914.

¯ The O’Neill Center in Marietta will host bingo at 9:30 a.m. Thursday mornings. No cost at the door to play 20 games, and it is a nickel per card per game. Seating is limited.

¯ Weekly ballroom dancing classes will be 7-10 p.m. the second, third and fourth Saturdays of the month at Miller Prosthetics, 2311 Ohio Ave., Parkersburg. Casual dress, $5 per person donation, singles and couples welcome.

¯ The O’Neill Center will have a free gentle yoga class at 10 a.m. every Tuesday.

¯ The O’Neill Center will hold a bridge game 1 p.m. every Tuesday.
