May 2:
¯ Police responded to the 200 block of Alta Street in reference to a disturbance. After investigation, a juvenile was referred to Children’s Services for further assistance.
¯ Police responded to the 100 block of Front Street in reference to a disorderly male. It was learned that Samuel Simpson had threatened a victim and their property, and was intoxicated in public. He also obstructed the officers investigating. As a result, Samuel Simpson, 41, was arrested for disorderly conduct, menacing and obstruction.
May 3:
¯ The school resource officer for Marietta Police Department was contacted by the high school vice principal in reference to a student’s mother surreptitiously entering the high school, locating a female student in the cafeteria and confronting her about what the female student supposedly said about her son. A staff member was present and had to call for assistance from other staff members to help remove her from the building. A criminal summons will be issued for the mother.
¯ Police were dispatched to an apartment in the 300 block of Colegate Drive in reference to a theft complaint. Officers made contact with the victim, who said money had been taken from her purse. The case remains under investigation.
May 4:
¯ Police were dispatched to Lafayette Plaza, 430 Pike St., in reference to an unresponsive male in a vehicle in the parking lot. Marietta Fire Department responders used Narcan and were unable to revive him. He was transported to the hospital, where he was stabilized. The incident is under investigation.
May 5:
¯ Police conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of Warner Street. During the stop, the vehicle operator advised that she possessed methamphetamine. Police collected suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia that will be sent for testing.
¯ All units responded to Caro Lane in reference to an older man with Alzheimers who was threatening a relative with a knife. Upon arrival, it was found that the older man had been talking to people who were not there and needed medical attention for his condition. He was transported to Marietta Memorial Hospital.
May 6:
¯ Police were dispatched to the 700 block of Eighth Street in reference to a criminal damaging complaint. Upon arrival it was found that a young tree had been torn down and was located in a neighbor’s burn pit. The case remains under investigation.
May 7:
¯ Police were dispatched to Front Street in reference to a man sexually groping a woman without her consent. The investigation is ongoing.
¯ Police responded to Walmart in reference to a theft complaint. Upon arrival police found that on May 5 a 16-year-old male stole an Oculus virtual reality headset valued at $399. The investigation is ongoing.
May 8:
¯ Police responded to the 100 block of Terrace Avenue in reference to a disturbance between two male subjects. The incident is under investigation.
¯ Police were dispatched to the police station regarding a report of a sex crime that occurred several years ago. The investigation is ongoing.
¯ Leah A. Hardman, 57, was arrested for OVI following a traffic accident.
