The Rotary Club of Marietta announced the awarding of scholarships to three Washington County high school seniors this week.
The scholarships totaled $1,000 for each student from their Safetytown Fund. Candidates were evaluated in their Safetytown volunteer efforts and how their participation will affect their future goals. Community service, academic status, extracurricular activities and career goals were also considered.
The students were:
¯ Ethan Gault will attend The Ohio State University to study aerospace engineering and business in the fall. He attends both Marietta High School and Washington State Community College. Gault is in several honor societies and active in band, golf and Rotary Interact.
¯ Cassidy Graham of Marietta High School plans to attend OSU to study English in the fall. Her long term goal is to work in editing or technical writing. Along with Safetytown, she participates in student council, competes in and teaches dance.
¯ Kristen Pfaff of Marietta High School will study nursing at University of Mount Union in Alliance, Ohio, in the fall. She is a member of several honor societies and participates in student council, track and soccer teams.
All three students were recently recognized as Academic Excellence Awards winners as a part of a dinner on April 27. The Rotary Club plans to invite all three winners and their guests to a luncheon soon.
