Sternwheel 5k scheduled; 13th annual event will be next weekend

The 13th annual Ohio River Sternwheel Festival 5K Memorial Run and Walk will be held 8 a.m. Saturday May 27 at the gazebo at Muskingum Park on Front Street, Marietta. Race-day registration begins at 6:30 a.m. and ends at 7:30 a.m.
The entry fee on the day of the race for both the run and walk is $25.
Entry fee for online pre-registration is $20 for the run and the walk. Online registration will remain open until 11:59 p.m. Friday. The online registration link is https://runsignup.com/Race/OH/Marietta/OhioRiverSternwheelFestival5KRunandWalk T-shirts will be given to the first 250 registered racers.
The race course is certified by United States of America Track and Field and the event is part of the River Cities Runners and Walkers Club series of annual races.
Awards are being given to the top three winners in many race divisions.
The race starts on Front Street at Putnam Street. The course is Front Street to Eaton Street, Eaton to Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania to Linwood, Linwood to the river trail, the river trail to the finish line at the gazebo at Muskingum Park. The River Cities Runners and Walkers Club also will hold a free Kids Race for children ages 11 and under at 9 a.m.
Proceeds from the race help the committee present the 47th Ohio River Sternwheel Festival Sept. 8-10 at the Ohio River Levee in Marietta.

Awards will be presented to the first three males and first three females overall and the top three males and females in each age group listed in the Run and Walk Divisions: 12 and under, 13-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75 and older.
