Art Walk happening this evening

The First Friday Art Walk hosted by Marietta Main Street and sponsored by Hall Financial Advisors will be held from 5-9 p.m. today in downtown Marietta.

First Friday will feature artists, performers and special promotions throughout downtown where residents are encouraged to dine, shop and enjoy the activities at participating businesses.

At the armory on Front Street, Advantage Real Estate will host stained Fractured Glass Studio artist and musician Justin Arthur. The MOV’N Dragons, the First Congregational Church and Schwendeman Agency also will be on the armory lawn.

A Kid Zone by Artsbridge, United Way, GoPacks and other nonprofits organizations will be on the armory lawn, too.

Butler Street will be closed to traffic between Front and Second streets, creating an artists’ village with artists, vendors and crafters.

Mandolin Mae and Bob Williams with their mandolins will be at Threadz Boutique. Wit and Whimzy will feature author David Michael Metz and his new novel “Sarah’s Project.”

Caricaturist J.D. Williamson from 5-7 p.m. will be at Mid-Ohio Valley Employment. The Marietta Masonic Lodge will hold an open house starting at 5 p.m.

Jesse Forrest will perform from 6-9 p.m. at the Lafayette Hotel. The Gypsy River Band will perform at Over the Moon Pub and Pizza.

Maple Street on the West Side will be closed to traffic where live music will be performed and stores will offer specials.

Downtown First Friday events are coordinated by Marietta Main Street and are held 5-9 p.m. the first Friday of the month.
