¯ Ludlow Township will hold its annual 2024 budget hearing at 7:30 p.m. June 30 at the town hall.
¯ The July meeting of AMVETS Post 1788 will be held at 5 p.m. July 11 at the Marietta Elks Lodge on Colegate Drive. Food and light beverages will be served. Following the regular meeting, the group will swear in new officers and discuss plans for the second half of the year. Meetings are open to the public and free of charge. ¯ A benefit bingo for Tammy Jackson of Beverly-Waterford will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church Social Hall at 307 Seventh St., Beverly. Admission is $25 at the door and $20 in advance. Proceeds will help pay for cancer related medical costs. Call Erica Branham at 740-525-2829 to schedule an advance reservation. Sixteen bingo games will be held. The first 15 games will have a $25 cash payout, the 16th game will be a coverall with $100 cash payout. Food concessions will be available. A country store, silent auction, 50/50 drawing and a live auction for two guns are also planned for the event.
¯ Marietta Main Street’s Summer Shop Hop will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday downtown Marietta. Event features discounts and special sales at nearly 20 businesses. Shoppers can look for the balloons and signs of participating shops and restaurants. Participating businesses have also donated items toward a huge prize basket valued at over $500. ¯ The St. Bernard’s Catholic Church Parish chicken or ham dinner will be held 4-7 p.m. June 28 in the church social hall, 307 Seventh St., Beverly. Adult meals are $13 and child meals for ages 10 and under are $5. Take-outs available. The meal includes side dishes, dessert and beverage, games for children and bingo. Raffle for several items. ¯ Dr. Jeffrey R. Dexter is celebrating the 30th anniversary of his chiropractic business, Marietta Health and Wellness, 325 Fourth St., Marietta, on July 1. He will be taking collections for the Humane Society of the Mid-Ohio Valley and offering free adjustments for his existing patient and free exam and xrays for new patients.
¯ The Barlow Library on Ohip 339 will hold a used book sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 6.
¯ The family of Nicholas and Philomena Bauerbach will hold its 76th reunion at noon July 9 at Our Lady of Mercy Social Hall, Lowell.
¯St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Marietta will host its monthly free community meal on July 11. This is one week later than usual to allow for the various July 4 activities. The meal is dine-in or take-out. For take out, call the church at 740-373-5132 and leave name and number of meals requested. A limit may be imposed. ¯ The Lowell-Adams Fire Department will hold an ice cream social at 4 p.m. July 15 on Buell Island. Food, ice cream, bingo, kids activities, gun raffles, country store and a live auction will be available. New this year is a car and truck show open to all makes and models and free entry. ¯ A faith-based cancer support group will be offered at noon second Mondays of the month at Gilman United Methodist Church, 312 Gilman Ave., Marietta.
¯ The 1955 graduating class of Marietta High School will meet 11:30 a.m. second Wednesdays of the month at the Harmar Tavern until further notice. All classmates and friends are welcome.
¯ Christ United Methodist Church, 301 Wooster St., Marietta, will offer a free takeout meal from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. first Fridays of the month. All are welcome.
¯ Gilman United Methodist Church offers worship at 10:30 a.m. Sundays. Come early to join the adult Sunday school class at 9:15 a.m. Coffee, light refreshments and good fellowship at “Coffee Time” held at 9:30 a.m. Sundays at 312 Gilman Ave., Marietta. A weekly adult Bible study with Pastor Doug Thompson will be held 10 a.m. Wednesdays and 6 p.m. Sundays. All are welcome.

¯ The Alzheimer’s Association offers professionally led groups for caregivers, individuals living with Alzheimer’s and others dealing with the disease of dementia. All support groups are facilitated by trained individuals. Meetings in the area include: Marietta Support Group, 10-11:30 a.m. first Friday of the month at the O’Neill Center, 333 Fourth St., Marietta. Facilitator is Krissy Kearns, 937-974-2387; Belpre Chamber of Commerce, 1-2:40 p.m. second Monday of the month at 713 Park Drive, Belpre. Facilitator is Susie Casto.
¯ The O’Neill Center will hold chair volleyball at 9 a.m. Wednesdays, except the second Wednesday of the month.
¯ Mani/pedis with appointments starting at 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. second and fourth Tuesdays of the month. Cost is $16 for manicure and $33 for pedicure. Call the O’Neill Center for appointments.
¯ TOPS 399, Marietta, meets 6 p.m. Tuesdays at the First Church of the Nazarene to help members lose weight by group support to a goal set by each member’s physician. Weigh-in is between 5:30 and 6 p.m. Visitors are welcome, and the first meeting is free. Call Cindy at 740-629-2957 for details. TOPS Club Inc. is a nonprofit, weight-loss support and wellness education organization in the United States and Canada. Members learn about nutrition, portion control, motivation, food planning and exercise at weekly meetings.
Classes/Workshops/Programs/Seminars
¯ Fairmont State University will host its annual High School Elite Camp from July 20-22. Campers from grades 9-12 will work on positions, skills training, team offense, defense, strength training and participate in a camp tournament.
¯ Zumba classes will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and 11:30 a.m. Monday at the O’Neill Center. The cost is $5 per class or $25 for six classes. All ages welcome. For more information, call 740-373-3914.
¯ The O’Neill Center in Marietta will host bingo at 9:30 a.m. Thursdays. No cost at the door to play 20 games, and it is a nickel per card per game. Seating is limited.
¯ Weekly ballroom dancing classes will be held 7-10 p.m. second, third and fourth Saturdays of the month at Miller Prosthetics, 2311 Ohio Ave., Parkersburg. Casual dress, $5 per person donation, singles and couples welcome.
¯ The O’Neill Center will hold a free gentle yoga class at 10 a.m. Tuesdays.
