Ohio State Highway Patrol
¯ A 2014 Kia Soul owned by Jordan A. Crabtree, 2013 Brookview Drive, Kent, Ohio, and driven by Kristen L. Crabtree, 39, same address, was southbound on I-77 in Marietta Township June 12 when it slid off the left side of the road and struck a concrete median barrier. Kristen Crabtree was cited for operating a vehicle without being in reasonable control. Patrol reports noted that unsafe speed was a contributing factor.
¯ A 16-year-old driving a 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer was westbound on Township Road 318 in Fearing Township June 6 went he off the right side of the road, went down an embankment and struck a tree. Patrol reports noted unsafe speed was a contributing factor. The juvenile was cited for operating a vehicle without being in reasonable control.
¯ Kenneth E. Wriston, 48, of 303 48th St., Vienna, was driving a 2006 Hyundai Sonata northbound on County Road 453 in Watertown Township June 8 when he slid across the center line and struck the back of 1981 International 9600 dump truck driven by Randal P. Offenberger, 64, of 200 Sparling Road, Waterford, who had turned northbound onto County Road 453 from a private drive. Patrol reports indicated that failure to maintain assured clear distance was a contributing factor for Wriston and failure to yield the right of way was a contributing factor for Offenberger. Neither driver was cited for the accident, but Wriston’s driver’s license check showed it was suspended and he was charged with driving under a suspended license. Wriston and one passenger in his vehicle had possible injuries but were not transported.
¯ Joshua Aaron Barringer, 24, of 69146 Ohio 124, Reedsville, was driving a 2015 Ford F-150 pickup northbound on Ohio 7 in New Matamoras June 8 when he failed to maintain assured clear distance ahead and struck the back of a parked vehicle, a 2011 Ford Taurus owned by Beverly Corp-King of 404 Front St., New Matamoras. Barringer was charged with failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead.
