The Washington County 4-H horse members traveled to Columbus to the Equine Affair in April.
Two teams from Washington County, a junior team and senior team, competed in the Ohio 4-H Horse Bowl Competition. The horse bowl competition tests the members knowledge of all equine related material. The contest provides an educational opportunity for both participants and the audience.
The horse bowl competition is part of the Ohio 4-H 8 of 8 competition as well. This contest hosts 8 different events for Ohio 4-H youth to participate in at the state level.
The junior team members placed 5th in the state. Team members included Carlos Beatty, Ashlyn Carson and Madison Starkey. Starkey also placed 8th overall in the junior age division.
The senior team brought home an 8th place finish. Team members included Ryace Boyer, Zoey Carson and PJ Harshberger.
All of the horse bowl team competitors are members of the Trailblazers 4-H club.
Horse bowl teams are coached by Jill Dennis, 4-H youth volunteer and advisor.
