WATERFORD — The Wolf Creek Local School Board of Education voted to send spending to the state auditor’s office as among various topics at Monday’s meeting.

“This is just some advances since we’re at the beginning of the month, towards the end of the month I can’t ask for any of the federal money until July. This is just to put the money in there so it’s not in the negative,” treasurer Rachel Miller said. “As soon as I get the money back, it goes right back into the general fund.”

Some of the items included in the report to the Auditor of the State are Emergency and Secondary School Emergency funds for $20,000, a Special Education Restoration Grant for $80,000, and School Improvements line for $10,000. Miller said these items are federal funding and the auditor’s office will send the money back to Waterford once it’s been verified.

In other news, Waterford Elementary School Principal Brad Lanier reported two students placed in the state track meet for junior high level.

“Making Waterford Junior High history here. There are no divisions in junior high. They invite the top 24 teens in the state. We had Emma Schaad place 16th in the high jump and Gavin Hiener was 11th in the 800 meter,” he said.

Waterford High School principal Suellen Coleman reported all 54 seniors graduated last month.

“It happens frequently for us. I think the staff work with the kids. They get individual attention,” she said.

The board approved a fund called Agricultural Education-5th Quarter. It supports Future Farmers of America teacher Matt Hartline for the work he does outside of school hours.

Starting at $2.99/week.
