As summer winds down, the final Second Sunday in downtown Marietta is scheduled from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. The event, coordinated by Marietta Main Street, is a way to offer additional shopping and dining opportunities while highlighting the many unique, independently owned businesses.
The Rivers, Trails and Ales Festival will be wrapping up its busy schedule in Muskingum Park, and the American Countess is expected to be docked at the levee all day. Families are invited to stop and see the river queen up close, although non-passengers are not permitted to board.
Wit & Whimzy owner Laura Pytlik is looking forward to the event, "We're excited that so many businesses are planning to be open this weekend," she said.
"People who may not be able to come downtown on other days will have opportunities to shop, dine and enjoy the extra treat of seeing the American Countess. Having Second Sunday fall on the last day of RTA Fest is just one more reason for people to join the fun."
Retailers open for the afternoon include Clutch Collective, Dad's Primitive Workbench, Emleigh's and Mama B's, Green Acres of Marietta, Hidden Marietta, Marietta Makery, Monsters Hordes, Penny Pinchers, Tabletop Puzzles and Games, Threadz Boutique and Wit & Whimzy.
The Original Pizza Place and Jeremiah's Coffee House. The Levee House Bistro will be serving from 10 a.m to 2 p.m. Visitors will also find food trucks by Sips, Munchies and Slumdogs.
The community is invited to take advantage of the extended hours and visit these businesses on Sunday afternoon.
Each Marietta Main Street event is a celebration of the local community and an opportunity for locals and visitors to have fun and enjoy the beauty of vibrant historic downtown Marietta.
