≤The Reno Area Water and Sewer District will be having their regularly scheduled board meeting at 6 pm on Tuesday, October 17th. The meeting will be held at the Reno Water Office 170 Mount Tom Road. The public is welcomed to join.
Events
≤ Family and Children First will sponsor a fall session of the Strengthening Families 10-14 Program for parents and youth ages 10-14 from 5:30-8 p.m. Tuesdays through Oct. 24 at the Ely Chapman Center in Marietta. The parent, youth and family skills-building curriculum builds family strengths, strengthens parenting skills and prevents teen substance abuse and other behavior problems. ≤ The Zonta Club of the MOV will sponsor its Delicates for Dignity Fundraiser through the end of October to support under-privileged girls and women in the community by providing feminine hygiene products, new bras and underwear. Items will be distributed at food pantries, homeless shelters, domestic violence shelters and middle and high schools. Donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 634, Marietta, OH 45750. Venmo monetary donations can be made to @zontamov. Feminine hygiene products, bras and undies may be dropped off at Advantage Real Estate, 103 Putnam St., Marietta. ≤ The Washington County Chapter of the Ohio Horseman's Council will hold a cornhole tournament 6:30 p.m. today at the Barlow Fairgrounds new show barn. Cost is $10 a person, bring your own partner, and prizes will be awarded for first, second and third places. Refreshments, food and a 50-50 drawing will be available. Proceeds benefit the chapter.
≤ The Oak Grove Volunteer Fire and Rescue pancake breakfast will be held from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday. Cost is a donation. The Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department is at 102 Oak Grove Lane, Marietta.
≤ The Marietta Friends of the Library will hold its annual Fall Sale Friday through Monday in the Library Annex, 617 Fifth St. Times are 5-7 p.m. today for members only and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday through Monday. Cost is $2 for a bag of books. The group also will raffle a wall quilt, "My Personal Library." Tickets are $5 and 200 tickets will be sold. The quilt will be on display in the annex during the sale and is on display at the Branch Library. Tickets can be purchased at the Marietta or Lafayette branches. ≤ Republican candidates for Marietta City offices will be greeting the public at Republican Headquarters, 216 Putnam St., (lower level) from 5-7 p.m. Today during the First Friday event. Refreshments will be available.
≤ The Marietta Civitan Club will hold a golf scramble at 9 a.m. Oct. 7 at the Marietta Country Club. Registration is 8 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Team entry is $300. ≤ "The Bells of St. Mary" will be presented 7:30 p.m. Oct. 7 at Rivers Edge Antiques and Collectables in St. Marys. Doors open at 7 p.m. and admission is free. Concessions will be available. "The Bells of St. Mary's" is a comedy and musical about a priest and a nun who try to save their school from closing. ≤ The Tuppers Plains Fire Department in Meigs County will hold its fifth annual 5K Run/Walk/Firefighter Challenge Walk on Oct. 8 at the fire station, 42040 Main St., Tuppers Plains. ≤ Come celebrate Indigenous People's Day from 3-5 p.m on Monday, Oct. 9. This event will be located on the front lawn of First Unitarian Universalist Society of Marietta. This event will be held by the HIP (Honoring Indigenous People) Team.

≤ The Tunnel-Warren Chapel United Methodist Churches will hold a free community meal. It will start from 5 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, October 12. It will be held at the Tunnel USC on Ohio 550 and Coffman Rd. To reserve a meal, call (740) 516-0847 by Wednesday.
≤ The Noble Correctional Institution will hold its annual golf scramble on Oct. 15 at Fullers Fairways in Zanesville. Cost is $65 a person or $260 per team. The fee includes a meal at the end of the tournament. Prizes will be awarded to the top two teams, longest drive and closest to pin and everyone will be eligible for door prizes. Skins will be available to for $10.
≤ The Pioneer Ladies Civitan Style Show and Salad Supper will be held at 6 p.m. Oct. 17. Fashions will be provided by Maple Sugar Boutique and William Auctioneer will hold a purse auction. • The Old Cornerstone Gospel Church is holding a live concert featuring Faith Harmony Quartet with Pastor Scott Kapple. The event starts at 6 pm on Saturday, October 21st. The live concert will be held at the Old Cornerstone Gospel Church sanctuary on 3100 17th Ave., Vienna. There will be a $15 dollar donation when you first enter. • The Gilman United Methodist Church Fall Craft Show will be held 9-3 p.m. Oct. 21. Food and beverages will be available. Ample parking is next to the church, 312 Gilman Ave.

• The free Trunk or Treat for veteran families will be from 5:30-7:00 p.m on Tuesday, October 17th. It will be held at the Marietta VA clinic parking lot on 27843 State Route 7. If veterans haven't gotten their flu shot yet, it will be available at the event.
•The Washington State Community College will host a Constitutional discussion free to the public. This discussion will honor Constitution Day at 11 am on Wednesday, October 25. It will be held in the Graham Auditorium, located in the Arts & Sciences building. There will be panelists and the first 100 in attendance will get a free pocket-sized Constitution.
•The Washington State Community College Criminal Justice, Nursing, Radiology, and Respiratory Therapy programs will conduct a free open discussion to the public. The discussion will be at 5:30 pm on Thursday, October 26th. It will be held in the Graham Auditorium located in the Arts & Sciences building. The discussion will be about common problems encountered in caring for incarcerated patients in the healthcare system.
• The fourth annual Mid-Ohio Valley Trunk or Treat will be held 6:30-8 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Washington County Fairgrounds in Front Street in Marietta. The event is free for trick-or-treaters and anyone interested in participating in decorating a car and distributing candy. Participants who will give candy should arrive between 5 and 6:15 p.m. to set up. Trunk or Treat is hosted by Kassandra Erb and the Washington County Fairboard. •A free two-part adult education in poetry writing will be from 3 to 5 pm on October 19th and October 26th. It will be held at the First Presbyterian Church on 501 Fourth Street in Marietta. •Washington State Community College will host its first-ever Pumpkin Chuckin' event free to the public. This event will be from 2 to 7 pm on Saturday, November 4th. • To celebrate the Great American Smokeout and Lung Cancer Awareness Month, the free Healthy Lungs 5k Run and Walk sponsored by the Washington County Health Department will be held 9 a.m. Nov. 18 at at Indian Acres Park, 147 Linwood Ave., Marietta. The top 10 male and female runners and the three male and female walkers will receive a prize. The free event encourages people of all ages to quit or never start the use of tobacco products to maintain healthy lungs for life. • The 1955 graduating class of Marietta High School will meet at 11:30 a.m. second Wednesdays of the month at the Harmar Tavern until further notice. All classmates and friends are welcome.
• Story Hour for children 3 to 6 and their caregivers will be held 10 a.m. or 1 p.m. Wednesdays at the Marietta Branch Library, 615 Fifth St. September topics include six library books, 13 busses, 20 apples and 27 squirrels. • The O'Neill Center in Marietta will hold bingo at 9:30 a.m. Thursdays. No cost at the door to play 20 games and it is a nickel per card per game. Seating is limited. The O'Neill Center will hold: a free gentle yoga class at 10 a.m. Tuesdays; a bridge game at 1 p.m. Tuesdays; a euchre game at 1 p.m. Wednesdays; hand and foot cards at 1 p.m. chair volleyball at 9 a.m. Wednesdays, except the second Wednesday of the month. Free afternoon at the movies at 1 p.m. Thursdays. Chair volleyball at 9 a.m. on the first and fourth Wednesdays of the month.
