Two local school districts have two candidates for two open seats on the November 7 ballot.
The Frontier Local School District ballot will feature candidates Adam Synder and Anthony Brooker. Current board president Jarrod Kiggans is not seeking reelection.
Synder, the current board vice president, is running for his second term. His son, Ethan, is a senior at Frontier High School. He said he enjoys helping out the kids through the board's decisions.
Synder also said he has enjoyed working with fellow board members and hopes for the district to continue to grow.
Brooker is a New Matamoras resident and a first-time candidate for Frontier Board of Education. He said he decided to run for the board to make a positive difference in student education.
"My goals are to make sure the kids in the district have a positive school experience and future," he said.
The Fort Frye Local School District ballots will have two incumbents seeking reelection: Karri Schilling and Kevin Worthington. They will be running to fill two open seats unopposed.
Schilling has been a board member for four years and is seeking a second term. She said she has two main goals for the district.
"I would like to see our (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) program continue to grow. I feel it is important to continue making safety improvements to our buildings for our staff and students," she said.
Worthington has been a board member for 18 years. He said the board will continue working on several construction projects.
"We have several building projects in progress that we need to complete, specifically the renovation of Beverly-Center Elementary and the athletic field house addition. The construction of safety vestibules at all buildings will be a priority in the coming months," he said.
Worthington said he credits each part of the Fort Frye district working together to their success.
"We have many accomplishments to be proud of but the main reason for the success at Fort Frye is we work as a team," he said.
"We have a great school board, superintendent, treasurer, administrative team, teachers and employees who work together to make our district one of the best in the state, not only in academics but also athletics."
