VIENNA -- The first meeting of the Vienna Building Commission took place at Vienna City Hall Tuesday afternoon.
The commission is a federally required entity and will reimburse the city of Vienna for the purchase of tax exempt revenue bonds to finance part of the Jackson Park pool renovation project.
Rod Smith was elected chairman and Chuck Noffsinger was elected vice chair. Karmyn Conley was elected as secretary.
Smith read an ordinance authorizing the commission to purchase revenue bonds up to $4 million in order to finance the Jackson Park pool renovations. The ordinance passed unanimously on first reading and will be read again at a meeting on Oct. 10.
Smith also read a resolution that authorized the commission to reimburse the city of Vienna with the proceeds of the revenue bond sale. The resolution passed unanimously.
Mayor Randy Rapp said a public hearing regarding the bond's amounts will be held prior to Vienna City Council's Oct. 26 meeting.
"It will start at 5:30 (p.m.) and if it runs over, council will run late," he said.
